Track 11 from the album Letters to Cyril Connolly.
They turned her down
And so she went out shopping
To get some peace
Enjoy the smell of old books
The man was weird
He thought that she was stealing
She smiled at him
The clock just kept on ticking
Turn the page and let the dust fly
Leave the world, don't be afraid to die
The answers are all in here
It's not so hard
Maybe I'll start my own shop
A place to hide
Enjoy the smell of old books
Her customers
Will think she's cool and mysterious
They'll come to see
And to be seen in the book shop
The years rolled by
The books pile up in the window
She goes for days
Without a word to anyone
Some kids come in
They're always laughing at nothing
The quiet boy
She thinks that he is stealing
Great Song - thanks for the download. This is going on my ipod
ReplyDeleteThis has a very REM sound from the Monster era. It's not quite as individual as Safety in Numbers and some of the other recent additions, but good jangly guitar parts.
ReplyDeleteReally like it.
This song, along with Hammer, Whitewash, 20 Easy payments, Far Too Enough and The Plan are my constant companions. Just fantastic stuff Daniel - always picks me up and makes my day. Thanks for all this.
ReplyDeleteReally dig the song! Kinda a mix of Blur, REM, The Smiths, and the Silversun Pickups. Great Work!
ReplyDeleteLovely, cool song, reminds me of 'It Bites', I gather you are influenced by our Frank?
ReplyDeleteGreat song
